Why Discovery to Cure?

Just like many of you, cancer has affected our families in various ways and is what motivated us to want to raise any money we can for cancer research*. With Ajelet's father being one of the founding members of Discovery to Cure, we felt confident that this organization was a safe place in which to invest our donations.

Discovery to Cure has made huge improvements on ovarian cancer research, a cancer that has been sadly becoming a greater concern for women in today's day and age, and we want to do what we can to help put an end to it. As two ladies who are healthy and able-bodied, we are so grateful for the opportunities granted to us, and we believe that every woman should have these same opportunities too--including women battling cancer. We want to stand strong with our sisters and do what is needed to help them have a chance towards a healthy, joyful, cancer-free life.

*60% of donations will go to Discovery to Cure. 40% will help us pay for some bike expenses. See here for more info.

Tell Me More About the Org

Founded by Drs. Schwartz, Mor, and Rutherford at Yale University, this non-profit organization began in 2003 to help advance possibilities towards advancing the prevention, early detection and treatment of women's reproductive cancers.

Some progressions that were established through this organization are:

A high school internship to encourage students to pursue careers in the field
Identifications of different types of ovarian cancer cells within tumors
New identification markers for early detection and treatment for ovarian cancer
Better before and after surgery treatments
Improved screening of new compounds on ovarian cancer stem cells
Established a Woman to Woman Program to provide peer mentoring support to women newly diagnosed with reproductive cancer
